Webinar: Reinventing government and how it interacts with research and innovation in agriculture and food with Michael Wernick
Over 40 government departments and agencies fund research and innovation in agriculture and food. Some administer multiple funding programs. Each has its own overhead, application forms, processes, timelines, etc.
This makes it difficult for researchers, innovators and organizations involved in agriculture and food to know when, where and how to get funding for their projects.
Mr. Michael Wernick was the Clerk of the Privy Council of Canada. He oversaw the public service. In Ottawa, the Clerk of the Privy Council of Canada is, arguably, the second most powerful person.
Since his retirement from the public service, and as he observed significant growth in government spending, Mr. Wernick has called for changes in the way the government operates, and the public service is organized.
This will be a great occasion for AIC members and stakeholders to hear from, and ask questions to, someone who’s led the Canadian public service.
Join us March 17,2025 at 11am ET to hear Mr. Wernick’s thoughts on how the government can and should do better.
