FPT Meetings & Halifax Statement
Today marks the conclusion of a series of events surrounding the annual meeting of the Federal, Provincial and Territorial (FPT) Ministers of Agriculture.
Following the meeting, the Ministers issued the Halifax Statement which spells out priorities to guide the Next Policy Framework (2028-2033).
AAIC is pleased to see that science, research and innovation remain at the forefront of the priorities identified by Canada’s agriculture ministers.
Although important implementation details are still to come, the direction set out by ministers signals a meaningful commitment to strengthening the sector’s innovation capacity and competitiveness.
During the FPT meetings, AIC participated in a number of related events and engaged with stakeholders from across the agri-food value chain. We also had the opportunity to discuss innovation priorities directly with several ministers at the government-hosted reception held prior to the meetings.
